OpenBankingProject.ch launches a new developer portal that gives Fintech companies and developers of financial apps free access for testing their open banking solutions.

OpenBankingProject.ch starts test environment for Fintech companies

The OpenBankingProject.ch consortium now offers a developer portal including a so-called sandbox. Within the framework of the sandbox, developers of digital financial services can supplement and test their apps with the functionalities provided by the Swiss NextGen API. Access is open to all interested companies and parties.

OpenBankingProject.ch launched the Swiss NextGen API in December 2019, together with the knowledge platform www.openbankingproject.ch. The aim of the initiative is to promote the Open Banking culture in Switzerland and to define standardized application programming interfaces (API) for the digital financial industry. The new developer portal and sandbox are also located at www.openbankingproject.ch.

The functionalities made available for test purposes include the retrieval of account information and the initiation of payment orders. They are equipped with all the central security standards expected in a productive banking environment - such as certificate verification and the demand for customer approval (Consent Management).

In cooperation with our partner companies (Avaloq, DXC Technology, Ergon, Finnova, Hypothekarbank Lenzburg, University of Berne and the Business Engineering Institute St. Gallen) and our steadily growing community, we will select and operationalise the next API standard for Switzerland in the coming weeks.

The selection process for the next API topic - such as bankable assets, customer opening or loans - is open to all interested parties. To this end, we will conduct a public poll. Information will be published on www.openbankingproject.ch in the coming days.

Through the open source approach of our initiative, the results are available to all companies. We are currently looking for additional members and partners to jointly promote the idea of open banking in Switzerland.
